This week, five nominees were sent to our committee members and voted upon by their record / results for the week with consideration for the competition that they have wrestled. The task to narrow it down to one choice is not an easy decision to make and it is one that is not taken lightly by the committee members.

Boundary to Boundary Colorado HS Girls - Legacy Head Coach Jeremy Cortez
Episode #82 of Boundary to Boundary - Colorado HS with Jeremy Cortez Legacy HS Girls head coach. This 4X state qualifier is taking on the duties of head coach of the district girls team with Legacy as the host school. The five school - Thornton, Horizon, Legacy, Mountain Range and Northglenn all are sending wrestlers to Legacy to combine as one unified team.

The Bennett Quad took place Friday Feb 5th at Bennett HS with Strasburg, Weld Central and Highland in attendance. Each team would be involved in three duals apiece during the event. Being the first event that I have attended on the high school season, here are some thoughts on the event before reviewing the results.
The traffic to get to Bennett on I25 and I70 was still as busy as ever, guess covid19 is not keeping people home. The precautions that the school, school district, the county health department, the state and CHSAA all have required has made it so only 25 wrestlers can be in a gym at any one time, spectators are limited at all high school events. Most high schools around Colorado have decided to only allow their host schools to have spectators with no visiting team fans are allowed. In quad and tri meets the gym is cleared of all personal and is sprayed and disinfected including the bleachers in between duals.

Colorado HS Boys “Wrestler of the Week” - Week 2

Week two of the 2021 Colorado high school boys wrestling season with only duals / tri / quad meets, as this is a shorten wrestling season with no individual tournaments. The season is 5 weeks long and wrestlers are bouncing in and out of the starting lineup but the competition is still very tough.

Three Colorado wrestlers earn 100th win

With the Colorado wrestling season being a shorten season and being moved twice from the usually start time of November, it is nice to hear that three wrestlers would hit milestones in their wrestling career. InsideCoWrestling is proud to announce that three wrestlers have reach the 100th win in their high school career.
It all started on Wednesday Feb 3rd with 120 lbs senior Eric Greigo, Pueblo County earning his 100th Colorado high school career win in the dual against Pueblo South. Greigo is ranked number one at 120 lbs in the 4A classification and a 2X state placer.
On Thursday Feb 4th 132 lbs senior Michael Atencio, Rye earned his 100th Colorado high school career win in the Quad meet with John Mall, Sargent and Swink. Atencio who is ranked second at 132 lbs in the 2A classification is a 2X state champion while being a 3X state placer.
Then on Friday Feb 5th 113 lbs junior Robert Estrada, Weld Central earned his 100th Colorado high school career win in the Quad meet with Highland, Bennett and Strasburg. Estrada would get his 100th win with a pin over John “Jack” Faczak, Bennett. Estrada is ranked number one at 113 lbs in the 3A classification and is a state champion while being a 2X state placer.
Congratulations to all three wrestlers for earning their 100th high school career win and good luck in the rest of the high school season.
