HASTINGS CUSATIS OPEN RECAP
Mines dominated the 2018 Hastings Cusatis Open, winning three classes with 13 placewinners overall to open up the second half of the season last Saturday. Taylor Gambill (141), Keenan Willits (165), and TJ Shelton (174) won their weight classes to lead the field, while Noah Au-Yeung and Weston Hunt were runners up at 133 and 285, respectively. As a team Mines had the most team points (627) and pins (20) in the field.
LAST YEAR VS. CHADRON
The Orediggers will look to avenge a 25-15 loss to the Eagles from last season with half of the lineup changed from that dual. Ethan Ruby and Keenan Willits won their matches, including a tech fall for Willits, but Chadron ended with five straight wins to overcome an early Mines lead. Mines has not won against Chadron since the 2010-11 season, and have not won against them on the road since 2009-10.
LAST YEAR AT THE MIDWEST DUALS
Mines will face two of the three teams it battled at last year's Midwest Duals as they meet Central Missouri and San Francisco State again. Mines dropped a close 25-19 decision to Central Missouri and fell 22-15 to SFSU; they ended by beating University of Mary 24-12.
